Lightsaber (Jedi Academy Hilt Mod)

I'm currently in a Star Wars state of mind, and decided to go halfsies with a modeler to release a custom hilt of my design. I came up with this idea a while back, wondering what a light saber in real life would look like. It would have to have a rod reaching to the end with a mirror reflecting the beam back to it's source so it wouldn't travel endlessly.

Here's the original concept I came up with:

Basic Hilt Template I Made From Scratch:

Hilt Model:

Hilt Model w/ Rod+Mirror:

Final Product:

I came up with the concept, 1shotdoctor (forum member on jk3 filefront) modeled it, and I completely skinned it (colored it in).

It took me 2 days of planning and 2 hours of skinning+coding to get it workable in game and make it almost-finished.

There will be more glow added in the final product, which I'll edit here and post. I'm so proud of it.

Cool, you really put alot of thought into this.
You should design a gun, that would be awesome.

Nice job Merios.
I think you'd do good with some modeling experience.

YOur idea of the mirror thing came from the game "No more heros" for the Wii (i believe) where the dude has a lightsaber-ish thing with a rod that comes out and drops a mirror..so overall the idea is not original..but your modeling was good..some of your pictures arent working btw..
nice modeling

Sk8, don't assume stuff, you just lost respect points from me.

That's the sword from "No More Heroes". You sound like the 10 nubs who just posted on my Lucasarts thread saying "omg u r stealign frum no moar heroez!".

There are tons of different items. For one, his is a "Beam Katana" and the rod is a blade with a half-circle of complete shielding around it. It has cords running down the sides and the hilt has no design whatsoever.

Think into things before you try and stay I took things from the game.

Until someone mentioned it at the forum after I posted this, I had no idea what "No More Heroes" is, I came up with this idea a year ago, but never thought about it because it's kinda hard to put into a game.

Sorry about the flamage, it's just that for the past four days, I've worked very hard, and everyone's saying "omg, it's no more heroes". It's not.

Anyway, it's cool. I wasn't really thinking either. I was still in the "shock phase" of something I thought up on paper to being an in-game model.

Re: Lightsaber (Jedi Academy Hilt Mod)

You told him the idea was not original. That's an assumption.
I would like to give you a word of advice and to anyone else who reads it.

You may be hot headed from something, or pissed off, but don't come around posting if you don't know what you're saying at the time.

At least do us all a favor and read your own post a couple times before click on the post button.

I learned that the hard way and it has benefited me since.

Great execution on that. Looks like you put in some hard work to get that outcome.

Great job!
