Lighting Question

SO people always seem to have what seems to have been streaks of light made by a brush, so i have a question, im experimenting on how to do that-do you fill one layer with a Lensflare and merge down a color balance to get the color then layer mask it to be where you want it or what?

Re: Lighting Question

it would be helpful to give an example here of exactly what you are looking for.

as far is lighting goes, theres a bunch of good techniques you can use...

1) simple soft round brush of any color, on the top bar lower the fill to a low percentage like 15-30 or something....and brush on lightly some color. set the layer to linear dodge for really cool effects but lighten and screen will work here.

2) fill a layer with black and set to lighten or screen or one of those. then use a lens flare and experiment with settings....try to make it look realistic because a random light ball in the middle of the tag looks tacky and dumb.

3) a rather large white brush like soft round 200 pixel on low fill will add some nice lighting. experiment with layer setting.

4) a good way to emphasize lighting is to make good shadows! for all the lights you add please remember to darken the opposite sides and add nice shadows behind thing. it makes the lighting better and also gives you more depth!

theres some good advice for you.
